How it works
Saving a status takes one tap
Watch statuses in WhatsApp
Look at them as you always do. WhatsApp keeps a copy on your phone for a day.
Open Status Guru
They're already there. The first time, the app may ask you to show it WhatsApp's status folder.
Tap to save
Save one, pick a few, or grab them all. They go straight into your phone's own gallery.
Status Saver
Save any status before it's gone
Every photo and video status WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business show you, sorted by day, ready to keep.
- Grab them all in one tap, or turn on auto-save and new statuses are kept for you in the background.
- Your own player to watch any video again, with Save, Share and Repost right there.
- Deleted by mistake? Bring it back from Recently Deleted for 30 days.
- Two accounts, never mixed. WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business each have their own pages.
Chat Media
Find the gigabytes hiding in your chats
Browse the photos, videos and files from your chats, even on phones whose gallery leaves WhatsApp out.
- Day by day, with sizes, so you can see at a glance what's taking up space.
- Sort by date or size, mark favourites, and pick many at once to share or delete.
- References: add a label such as a name or a word, and search for it later.
- Photos, Videos and Files, each on its own tab.
Saved and Memories
Everything you save, in your own gallery
Saved photos and videos go into Status Guru albums in your phone's gallery, and the Saved tab keeps them sorted by day.
- Memories brings back what you saved on this day a week, a month, 3 months or a year ago. Or never, as you choose.
- Favourites with a tap on the heart, and a filter to show only those.
Sticker Packs
Your own photos, as WhatsApp stickers
Make photo and animated sticker packs from your own pictures, videos and GIFs, then add them to WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business.
- A background remover that runs on your phone, with nothing uploaded.
- Crop each one with a frame you drag, and give it emojis so WhatsApp can find it.
- Animated stickers from a short stretch of a video or GIF.
Video Cutter
Long video? Post it as a status anyway
Cut a video too long for one status into parts of 90, 60 or 30 seconds, then post them in order, all at once or one by one.
- Custom keeps just the stretch you want, of any length, as one video to save, share or post.
- Text and emojis on top, shown on every part.
- A video under a minute is simply trimmed and edited, then posted, shared or saved as it is.
- All on your phone, with nothing uploaded.
Direct Chat
Message a number you never saved
Open a WhatsApp chat with any number, without filling your contacts with people you'll message once.
- Your country is picked for you, so the number can be typed with or without its country code.
- WhatsApp or Business, whichever you choose.
- Never kept. The number is used only to open the chat.
- A home-screen widget and shortcut to start a chat straight away.

Backup
Why the app asks for access to your Google Drive
Only for Backup, which is off until you turn it on in Settings › Backup. Everything else in the app works with no Google account and no internet connection.
When you connect, Google asks you on its own screen to let the app use your Google Drive. The app asks only for the drive.file permission, which lets it see and change only the files it creates itself, never anything else in your Drive.
- It puts only what you tick (saved statuses, chat photos and videos, sticker packs, favourites, references and settings) into a folder called “Status Guru Backup” in your Drive, where you can open or delete them yourself.
- Files go straight from your phone to your Drive, in your own storage. There is no server in between, and the developer cannot see your Drive.
- Restore copies back only what your phone is missing.
- You can disconnect at any time in the app, or remove its access from your Google account's security settings.
Your Drive is used only to back up and restore your own files, for you. The app's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
On your phone
Your photos and videos stay on your phone unless you turn on Backup, and then go only to your own Google Drive.
Not your chats
The app cannot read your WhatsApp messages, chats or contacts.
Your switches
Anonymous usage counts, crash reports and in-app messages each have their own off switch in Settings › Privacy.
No account, no adverts
Nothing to sign up for, and no adverts anywhere in the app.
